Part of the Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grants, first authorized and funded by the federal government in 1982, are administered by the department to support several public health programs, such as the Rape Prevention Project, in Alabama. This office provides staff support for coordinating and implementing all aspects of the grant program. These files are created during the process of planning, application, and implementation of the grant program. Files include, but are not limited to, proposals, application forms, hearing records, correspondence, memoranda, notices of award, and various reports. Some of these records were created by the Bureau of Area Health Services (1981-1986).
